Selecting an area rug

Selecting an area rug for a bedroom can be a daunting task. You want to consider the size, texture, and type of mood you want to create. Below, I selected a photo of a bedroom done in a neutral palette. In the original photo, a sisal rug is used to add texture; however, a sisal rug is not as soft as a wool rug, so if you walk around bare foot, you may not want sisal or jute. I included other examples of rugs that would also look great in the space, a graphic gray and ivory patterned rug with a thick wool pile, and colorful tribal rug with a lower profile. Any one of these would work; it just depends on what mood you want to create. And lastly, selecting the right size is important. If you have a small room, you could use a runner at the foot or sides of the bed, a medium size room would need an 8x10 or 9X12 to frame the bed, and a larger room would need rugs of various sizes scattered throughout.
